The Gunn Queen is now an award-winning comic series

The Gunn Queen co-creator and artist Yanko Super has won a Pepo award in Chile for Best Colour. The award is named after Chilean artist René Ríos Boettiger, aka Pepo, creator of the famous character Condorito.

Below is my reaction as writer, originator, co-creator and publisher of the English edition, as well as a preview of our updated cover.

Well done Yanko! Gracias Chile! Gracias Visuales!

And it's good timing too, as we're set to publish Volume 2 of The Gunn Queen: Desencadenada with our Chilean publisher Visuales later this year. My thanks once again to Yanko, the Chilean indie creators who contributed to the Volume with art of Gunn Queen (Seriously, WOW!)

Elsewhere, I've had to cut convention appearances this year in Scotland due to a simple choice between continued production on the comic or paying for printing, lodging and convention fees. The convention circuit is great but expensive, and I have a life and responsibility outside of comics and Gunn Queen is mostly self-funded apart from a £328 Kickstarter in 2023. I want to be there in person, but if I were, we wouldn't finish the series next year as planned.

So, with the Pepo award giving Gunn Queen some prestige, I'm doubling down on finishing it. Because the next volumes are where, in my view, things really heat up. We'll be dropping issue 4 later this year.

As promised, here's a look at our updated cover of The Gunn Queen Volume 1: Interloper graphic novel.
